With the budget constraints in 2011 and troops pulling out of Iraq by the end of the year each branch of the service is cutting back. But what do these cutbacks mean for you? That depends on your current status.
If you’re already on active duty or in the Guard or Reserve the cutbacks may not affect your current enlistment but may impact you in other areas, such as Tuition assistance or Morale, welfare and recreation activities, and your ability to reenlist.
But, if you’re on the job hunt and looking at the service as an option, troop reduction could impact your ability to join. The services will become more picky and will likely require higher ASVAB scores, make it harder to get waivers for items such as, tattoos, law violations or medical conditions. In other words the road to enlistment may get much bumpier.
We want to hear how troop reduction has affected your chance to enlist! Please comment below.

I worked for my last year in recruiting in the operations section. It was my job to review all tattoos for content and size. Toward the end of 2010 we were getting much stricter with tattoo placement and size. For example if a tattoo was on the back of your neck even the smallest part of it was visible you would be disqualified from joining the Air Force. When the amount of people needed by the military goes down the standards and adherence to policy goes up!!
What if I tore the tendon in my left arm when I was 14 an had surgery?thee issue it doesnt fully extend straight,it slight restricted from the injury,no metal or anything..i have taken weight training since I can carry things and bench and normal everyday things im just unsure if that woul deny me
I have wanted to join the military for about 4 years now an cant at the moment because I had a run in with the law ( no felonies) or charge that was severe. It has been holding me back for a long time and now it will get even harder for me to join.
In the mean while I have been going to college And doing volunteer work with the new York state guard it’s a military force under the dmna. I hope that soon I get the chance to go active and be in the real army.
if the charge was over a period of time, and you have a desire to join. consider having the charge expunged from your record. the fact that you are involved with teh activities that you are in will be to you advantage. Also the National Guard is capable of offering waivers where the regular military will not. it is not a full time job, but has man of the same benefits as regular Army. See about getting the record expunged, explain why you wish to get the record expunged, show what you are and have done since that time, chances are you will prevail. Good luck!!
How many general officers and field grade officers will be cut ?
None, infact they'll probably get even more.
The question is ill-mannered and should not merit a reply but I must state that General and Field grade officers have established countless of significant, professional decisions that are essential to the security of United States of America. Leaders at this height have facilitated with world conflict issues by planning effectively throughout the operational continuum- strategically, operationally, and tactical missions that lead the troops on the course to successfully continue the defeat on Global War on Terrorism. All Soldiers are important to keep the U.S. safe and free. Non Commissioned Officers are our work horse and are vital to the military success, just as Company grade officers are important to command the troops to achieve the mission. General and Field grades Officers have attained a level that is needed to sustain our military force in the correct course of action that American expects.
I was meeting with a recruiter for the Air Force when another recruitment station in the next city closed down due to budget cuts. Because of this she told me that all the potential recruits from that station who had been waiting longer than me for a spot in Boot Camp would now be going ahead of me, now that they had been given to her office to process, making it almost impossible for the recruiter to get me into Boot before my 28th birthday (got my AA and BA degrees before joining). This effectively closed the Air Force to me, but I'm fine with it, there's no wrong way to serve your country and I can still do so in any other branch of the armed services.
dude if you have a bachelors dont go enlisted. join a branch that can accept you into OCS and go officer at your age since you are borderline "too old" (no offense 28 is young but military rules differ in opinion) i think you can go army or navy at 28 and older (i forgot the age limits) and if they say you can do it while youre enlisted yea its true but in all honesty its harder than you think. i know many guys who got sucked into that BS and certain "circumstances" prevented them from going officer and they remained enlisted. Circumstances that werent anything bad, its the branch itself which becomes difficult to work with to getting what you want done. trust me. dont waste that degree, go officer its a better life. you dont wanna be a 28-29 year old man (i assume youre a male) with a AA and a BA and work with 18yr old E-3 and belows who dont know the meaning of hard work (not yet anyway)
Dont forget that he also has an option to do 4 yrs. enlisted then go to OCS and get paid higher than his peers as an O1E, due to his prior
experience as an enlisted man. Couple that with the fact that he will
most likely enter as an E-4 with those credits, who knows, he may
like being an NCO (IMO) as thats where the rubber meets the road.
im sorry !@#$ umm. im a lcpl and we run our company.we are very hard workers .so when speaking of E3s please show us some respect and by the way all of us dont act 18.im very mature for my age and i’m a great leader!
Im in a similar position, the cutoff for most jobs now is 28 depending on which branch. I’m 29 with my Masters and currently putting in my package for the Navy. Depending on your degree there are still various positions open to you as far as becoming an officer but go talk to your OSO NOW, you are right on the cusp of having a few more designators closed to you because of your age. In my opinion officer is the only way to go at our age with a degree.
Also as someone who’s just been through this Ive been doing a lot of research. For OCS the Navy will take you for certain designators up to 35, for the Marine Corps technically the cutoff is 28 but they accept waivers for up to 2yrs, problem is they aren’t taking any more candidates this fiscal year which ends in October. Army just dropped their age requirements for OCS down to 28 and I’m not sure about the Air Force but I think they are also 28 right now, so like I said go talk to your officer recruiter immediatly before it’s too late. Take it from me putting in a competitive packet to OCS is not easy but in my opinion it’s definetly worth it.
are old traffic violations an issue even though they have been paid off and are two three years old?
Depends on how many you have, if you have more than 5-6 traffic vilations it could hurt your chances.
YOU STILL NEED TO CHECK THE STATUS ON THEM THEY WONT LET YOU IN THE MILITARY FOR NOTHING.
I want to serve my country as best I can and joining the Air Force is the best way I can think of. I'm hoping these cutbacks won't sever my chances of being recruited, since I would love to enlist. By this summer I will have my AA in Liberal Arts and every time I take the practice ASVAB I score fairly well. I have one tattoo on my right shoulder about 4 inches long, but my t-shirt sleeves even cover it. I don't have any medical problems that I think would hinder my chances of getting in, except that I'm allergic to a few things though they're not so bad that they me useless. Does anyone have a clue as to what my chances may be when I go to enlist this summer?
If you are looking at getting in over the summer you need to meet with a recruiter soon. like Feb time frame. The wait time from application start till you leave for BMT is about 5-6 months
Don't wait till summer. That's when all the schools let out. Enlist now to get a boot camp in summer.
Having just gone through the recruitment process myself, I will share what my recruiters chief (Navy) told me about allergies. I have a mild reaction to lactose in general dairy products when I consume a decent amount of them(straight milk, Yogurt, the like). He simply asked me if I needed a epi-pen for my reaction, or if it was in any way debilitating. I honestly answered that I didn’t need anything for my reaction, nor did it affect me beyond the level of discomfort. He told me that this would not be considered an allergy and advised me to answer a “No” to the question since answering otherwise could DQ me from service.
I guess allergies might have been trendy in grade-school, but not here.
Good luck to you!
I got my last name tatted on my back pretty good size also have a GED getting my college hr and getting PRK surgery all so I can join Pararescue I hope all this dont affect my chances of joining
check with your recruiter on that PRK surgery before you get it. that can sometimes be disqualifying, or at least set back your enlistment for 6 months or so.
Try 3 years. I was told by my recruiter that any surgery you undergo will require a three year period before you're eligible for enlistment. That holds true for the marine corps and the air force for sure, the other branches I'm not sure about
Damn this sucks, i actually want to join the military. And serve my country also, this is bullshit. I dont want the college money or any other benefits. i plan to make the Army my carrier job. And in the end say I did something. People go in nowadays for the benefits and money.the military is not for everyone.i think people should go in cause they want to serve, not go in because they suck and thats there last choice in life. If your hearts not there people get let down, and soldiers die.
who said that it is a last choice in life…I had a colege degree, a good job and did not have to serve, choose to anyway. Benefits?! with enough thought the benefits can be matched
Think again!!
Which branch do u serve?
well arnt you just a badass. i didnt say it was a last chance for everyone .but lately in the past couple of years lots of thugs join because they have no other real option in life. so you think again and stop being a little sensitive bitch. you must be in the air force.
well atleast those kids are getting out of the ghetto and bettering them selfs. and how dare you insult someone who serves your country. It makes no difference what branch or rank. They sure as hell have done more with their lifes than you cause their not the ones complaining. They got in and are protecting your freedoms. For someone who say's they want to serve their country your sure are a nieve and miss guided person. Dont let that bull dog mouth get your puppy dog ass chewed up if you make it in.
@brando… well wat about all the people that was drafted into the military against there will. Obviously there hearts weren’t in it. But they still had to go and serve there country. So if a man or woman wants to go so they can receive some of the benefits that the military has to offer then that is there right.. But while in this process I promise you they will learn something about the military and themselves..
I am a 17 year old high school student involved in extra curricular activities ranging from drama to NJROTC and have found myself wanting to enlist into the Air Force as soon as I can. I play basketball & soccer so I know physically I will keep up. I have 2 hidden tattos my mother does not know about and I’m not sure if they will effect recruitment. Knowing I work well with people I love to help people in anyway I can. I have a boyfriend who is in college I would like to build a life with I would like to start,in the Air Force. Should I wait?
Try ridding of the tattoos , see if it will affect your chances of eligibility.
Hidden tattoos are not an issue. Talk with a recruiter. Dont guess, as you may guess incorrectly.
Sounds good….
they are not in view….
If you boyfriend loves you then he will understand your choice to join. Also the happy medium is joining the Reserves or the National Guard. it is part time and provides more flexability with where you are stationed. if he moves all you hav to do is find an unit near by
So are you in the Reserves? Richard below says it would be better to enlist….
As long as the tattos are not on your neck, face , fingers or are the arm sleeve, you should be a GO. The objective is to keep them hidden from the population and maintain a profeesional image.
GOT IT!
Join. The tattoos will only become an issue if you try to lie about having them.
And if it were me, I wouldn't mess around with guard or reserve. You don't start a life off of the salary you pull in from that, and you don't make the kind of difference that you would on the active side. It's my experience that people join the guard or reserve because they already have a good job that they don't want to leave, or they are afraid to commit to the military and leave the nest.
The only issue is your boyfriend. I could try to tell you you're too young to be making huge life choices based on somebody else who you will probably not be with for more than another couple of years tops, but that typically makes people stop listening and it's not like I know you so I could be completely wrong. So I'll skip that and just say that you should both be happy. If serving makes you happy it would be selfish of him to stop you and if he loves you, he won't.
My boyfriend who is in college is already seeing me in the Air Force after graduation says "you will be gone for 6 months @ a time, I'm just going away to school stop whining"
I love him for that. None of the decisions I am making are based off him because this is my life… We arnt married
YET

As for the HIDDEN tattos, I think I should wait until I am 18 (End of May) and still go with my mom???
I do want to join… and I want to live long enough to join
You know what I mean??
I needed a medical waiver that had to go through three levels of command because they desperately were trying to keep peeps out. But with a BA and a high ASVAB and no law violations, I think someone finally said oh what the hell give her a shot. Go Army!!
I had an inguinal hernia surgery at 15 because I was lifting weights and I had broncospasms at 11 and had to use an inhaler for like 2 weeks. I also had acne and took small meds for it.. On military.com these are all good enough to pass but with all this can I still join? Ever since I was a kid I wanted to enlist. I spent my whole life wanting to join..this medial history doesn't affect me at all. I play highschool lacrosse.
Any asthma or asthma like symptoms will probably disqual you from service. However, lots of docs prescribe inhalers for stuff other than asthma. You can talk to them, and it might work out OK since you've got a proven history of no problems. The hernia generally won't disqual you.
I'm also trying to join the marines
And Don't tell me what your assumptions are. I don't care what you think I care what you know
For prior-service applicants, here is my experience: After a six month delay in getting my prior-Army-service packet together over two different Navy recruiters who'd never done one before, I finally got & cleared my medical inspect at MEPS in October 2011. 100% clean, AGCM, Hon discharge, RE code 1, 99 ASVAB, college degree. I am as of Jan 2012 still waiting on any news at all from the regional Recruiting command, and my local recruiting office is as clueless as I am. I don't know if I could be called tomorrow, or another year from now.
My advice as a former NCO: If you're looking to enlist at this time into the Navy, don't hold your breath and keep looking for (or working at your current place of) employment to hold you over, or go to/stay in school. Seeing as how the Navy is currently trying to kick out as many sailors as it can to "force shape," I wouldn't count on there being rapid intake of new people, and I'd budget at a minimum 12 months before you even think about whether you need to think about swearing in.
Here's hoping for Operation Iranian Freedom 2012. #half-sarcasm
They are drastically increasing the number of Reserve recruits they are looking for. Atleast in Iowa.
You ask about going officer? They might have more slots, ironically, if they're all full up on the enlisted side due to downsizing.
Don't feel bad I know the fusteration, and your 100% correct thier doing PTS, now which can hurt your chances of trying to re-enlist, im trying to switch, I want to stay in as long as I can, just gonna have to start from day one square one! Don't give up were there is a will there is a way!
Brando,
If you are planning on making the military your career, you should want to advance your career, just as you would any other civillian career, correct? Then you DO want the educational benefits, you DO and SHOULD be planning on college, and figuring out what you would like to study. To be able to advance your career in the military, especially if you want to become a Basic Branch Officer , Warrant Officer, etc., then you need a Bachelors degree at a minimum. The more you educate, and better yourself, the better you serve your country.
thanks for the advice. im in dual credit so I am taking college classes right now.I just want to be in the army bad.
I am 20 years old with a GED but almost done getting my hours, i was going to join the Marines during the summer of 2011 but i got arrested(no felonies or drug charges) i got it dismissed btu I still have to wait til this summer of 2012, will the troop reduction affect me? because i really want to join.
It's affecting everyone… Until there's a big need for troops the service will continue to nitpick at every little thing… GED only passes like 10% of people in. You need some extreme good asvab scores to be considered
have my BA and a job making 6 digits, but still enllisted in the Marines and shipping in Oct. Now thinking about Marine OCS. How difficult would it be to get in now?
Probably not hard…and ocs is still an option..as long as your medically qualified and you can get a waiver for the criminal record then your good to go…one of the things they look at for the waiver is do you seem eager and motivated to enlist…but right now is not a good time with Obama screwing us over and you may be rejected or you may have to wait literally a year to go to bootcamp
i got an 85 on the asvab and some monor police record with no convictions
but have a GED and college and nobody wants to talk to me
BTW its 15 college credits that i have, also no medical conditions. In good shape and it's not like i don't have a job, I work in Tech Support for internet
The GED might be screwing you. When I joined no service was taking GEDs. A couple of years ago the army was making up degrees so things change. I'd check back every six months. The rules today may not be the same the next.
Navy has a No GED policy right now, Army and Marines take them still i heard, depends on who you talk to and where you go. keep trying for it.
With all respect, that’s incorrect actually. I’m practically finished with the Navy recruiting process (temporary medical hold for a few weeks until I can swear in). I have a GED, but I also finished a year of college giving me over 30 credits and I scored in the mid-90s on the ASVAB. So while it lowers your chances, it’s not an automatic ‘No’.
Ultimately, don’t rely on us for information; talk to a recruiter who’s got the latest in policy. Good luck!
This is not true. I have a GED with no college credits and I'm currently in the navy recruiting process. I did score a 97 on the ASVAB though.
The military is always going to need people, expecialy new ones. Even if they cut the number of recruits by 90% they still need that 10. Make sure you are the best recruit possible. If you screwed up and have been arrested or other bad marks on your record you have no one to blame but yourself. As for medical conditions that's out of your hands. When I was going through screening at MEPs they were going to DQ me for flat feet. I begged the doctor and told him I never had problems with my feet and I realy wanted in. He ok'd me, enthusiasm counts for a lot. Don't lye though, there is a reason for these rules if it is going to be a problem you're going to screw yourself and your buddies in the long run.
As for people who say they're going to be career and have never beed on activer duty DO NOT pass down any benifits offered. Take all you can get. Anybody who has served has seen guys how wanted to be a lifer and quickly change their minds. There is plenty of guys who's career has been cut short due to health or injuries. Don't screw yourself because you knew how the next 20 years were going to turn out.
Screw the military as usual, thank you congress.
Does this cutback affect to people who is U.S non citizen too ? even they don't have any law violations or medical conditions?
NO, only if you are going to get a Top Secret Clearance.
Im 16 and ive wanted to enlist for the Marines for about 4 years now and i hope that these cutbacks wont hinder me because i dont plan on going to college, i just want to enlist and maybe make a carreer out of the military. these cuts just have me worried
I would say screw the military. Go get a real job, where you will get paid money with out congress messing with your pay, getting messed over by the military for various reasons, go home to a warm bed at night, and not have to worry about getting messed up physically. This country is not worth serving, and you are better off either on unemployment or working at McDonalds type jobs…besides they pay better………from someone who is prior service.
Im 22 going on 23 and I want to enlist this summer into the AF and I have no prior service. No law issues. High school graduate. No medical issues. No kids. 21 college credits. But i have flat feet. Will that disqualify me from serving. I want to go reserve. Also can someone tell me where I can take the practice asvab. How much cash should i save for basic training and do you really get to live wherever you choose to live while on reserve duty? Im currently in Dallas but plan to move to Nashville to stay for good in a month.
Lol at Moe! That’s terrible to discourage people from the military when its a great opportunity. Life is what you make it and dealing with the cuts are part of serving in my opinion. No disrespect!!
As long as the flat feet will not affect your physical ability. And a guy begged the meps doctor into letting him join and the doctor passed him
Thanks Travis! do you know where i can take the practice asvab?
Check Military.com or go on line and search asvab. You can also purchase a book to study, got mine off e-bay. Had a hard time getting in the Navy. It took almost a year, keep up with what your Recruiter is doing, they sometimes make promises and tell you things then when the time comes, you have to scramble to get your information together. Go luck. Anyone wanting to go in the service should sign in to Military.com, they everyone up on what's going on in all the service branches.
So I enlisted in the Army in October and signed a contract stating my MOS, will any of this cause me not to be able to ship on the day that they told me? That would really throw shit off if it does
A contract’s a contract. Short of an act of God, you’re committed and should ship out as planned.
Im 26yrs old and currently tryin to join the navy but my recruiter has been giving me the run around and im hoping its not because the cut backs, im looking into becoming a corpsman. Im currently EMT cert but the medic program an fire programs inCA have a long wait list so my cousins who are currently marines suggested the Navy. No medical hold ups clean criminal background so i was wondering if theres anything i can do to expidite my process to MEPs??
I’m have been talking to a recruiter for the marines I qualify but I have tattoos they show only a little but when I’m wearing short sleeve but I was told by someone if it can be covered by your hand that’s fine is this true
Looking at the Navy, have no criminal/medical record, high school and 4 year college degree, will score high on asvab, and am looking into AW rating, which have a CREO list of 1 across the board. Should I have a good chance?
I am about to join Marine Corps is there any tutors out there thst can help me better my over all score I do pay well?

The max age of enlightenment went from 42 to 35 April 2011, of course I tried to join in June and was told I was too old. I’m currently taking Farsi lessons to try getting in as a linguist. Long shot but I’m willing to try anything
My husband was looking to join the airforce and has no problems with, his feet, medical, traffic violations, and he has over 85 college credits, scored well on asvab but was told his credit isnt good enough (not to mention we dont hve kids, and no major credit
issues like house, car etc) we were also told he cant get a waiver either…why is this? Is there anything else that can be done
they pickie about who they want try the navy or the army
Hi, I have on my med records depression I would like to know how this will effect my chances of be enlisted. I have in writing that my depression has. been reviewed by my doctor and it has been resolved. I want to serve the army and study to become a 68W, thank you for any feedback and god bless!
Lie.reserves can’t touch medical records.active can obtain them though.but they won’t take you with history of mental health problems.its not worth mentioning.
I have about 12 tattoos non of with pass my elbow or no were near my neck. One of the 12 is a crown with 5 points on it with I got way before I new what a gang was or signs they used. Would this go against my odds of getting into da army….also i passed my asvab an waitn for my call on for the meps what do I need 2 study for the asvab again
it might man…idk cause i dont have any tats but try and get it removed..it may effect you entering…go talk to a recruiter about it….with the asvab..for me it was a piece of cake. cause im fresh out of school…go look for an asvab study guide at a book store…that helped my brother
I am currently in the Future Soldier Training Program. I enjoy every bit of it. I ship out in 45 days to Ft. Benning, GA. I asked my Recruiter if the cutbacks would effect me… I was told that cutbacks for the Army will only effect personnel that have been in for a certain period of time, i'm not sure exactly how long he said. The Army wants to filter out older personnel, so new enlistees have room to gain rank. So i was told.
I was thinking that or get some points add but I don’t know when they will call back I passed the test last month around the end do I need 2 keep studying
I was always told, you make the initiative, don't wait for them to call you, you push your entrance into the service, MEPS job is to try and stop you from joining. Make it a big deal to speak to the Recruiter, there job is to help you. If you have good score, more power to you. Depending on what MOS you want, should determine how much you want to study.
I'm a 26-year old looking into Special Forces. I have a college degree, so I originally wanted to go to OCS, but I heard comissioned officers have to be at least a 1st Lt to even try out for SF. At that time I will probably be too old for SF, so would it be possible to get an age waiver?
Another path I was considering was taking an 18x Contract and going as Enlisted in SF. And if I wash out of SF, then I want to try out for OCS. Is it possible to get all of this written into the contract? If I'm over 28 by the time I wash out of SF, is it possible to get an age waiver for OCS?
Thanks for the help.
From the military cutbacks for each service branch, how is it possible for high school students to sign up and join.
I want to join the Navy and I still have to call a recruiter. I will hopefully go into boot camp this fall. But I had 2 lung biopsies. Both for the same thing. I also had to use an inhaler and a breathing machine until I was 5-6. I had asthma until I was about 5-6 also. I'm 19 and will be 20 when I go into boot camp in the fall. I have yet to do my ASVAB and DLAB. I have been studying very hard for them both. Will any of this affect my chances of getting into the military?
I’ve wanted to join the AF but I have a full sleeve half a sleeve both of my legs and a side piece tatted will that effect my enlistment?
the wont take you if you have sleeves try army
If any of you want to join the AF or Navy you will need to score 50 or better on the ASVAB. The Cost Guard requires a 45 or better however, I spoke to a recruiter on 02/15/2012 and he said their recruits average 75 or better on the ASVAB scores. This recruiter said someone not scoring over 60 or higher may never get recruited with the Cost Guard. The economy surely hasn't helped people that may have qualified two years ago. I really don't see many opportunities for those who barely meet the standards anymore. I suggest if you qualify now you better make a commitment before each branch makes further changes.
Any asthma disquilifies you from service.if u wanna serve don’t even mention it.not worth red tape/ getting the boot
I am have my GED and I’m in college to get the 15 credits plus getting a tattoo removed on my hand. I’m in excellent health never been in surgery or broken a bone but with all this what are the odds of me getting in? The recruiter said I should be able too if I pass all the medical evaluations at MEPS. What do you guys think?
Im 19 I have my GED and currently going to college for the 15 credits plus getting my tattoo removed on my hand. I’m in excellent health never had surgery or had a broken bone. The recruit I talked to said I should be able to get in even though with everything going against me. What do you guys think of me being able to join the service?
I guess my chances of joining the army at 34 are ruined for good now with this cut back.
Unless Iran does something stupid…
I think it’s wrong that you can’t join Because u have tattoos or something wrong with yourk health condition or you got record problems I think that you want to join and defend our country then heck yeah remember when America fought the British they didn’t care if you were sick, young,or had a bad life as long as you fight to save America and look what happen we did it we won so I think it shouldn’t matter I wanna join and fight for our country I don’t wanna stay here and hear soldiers are dying If I die in the army steady I died for my country.
I just got done with my asvab my score was 80 no criminal record but I been diagnosed with add I been off medicine for 3 years what you think my chances are to join the army
Hi, I am an 18 year old high school senior, I want to have some type of medical career in the army, would the cutbacks hurt my chances of enlisting after I graduate in June? I have no criminal record, no major health conditions. I want to go into the national guard.
Jeff How did you get am 80. I really need an 80 for the position that I want. Is it really just 145 questions on the real asvab?
http://www.amazon.com/ASVAB-Dummies-Jennifer-Lawl… now this is the book i used to study i also took the pre tests and full practice test here http://www.military.com/ASVAB i didnt study everyday studied for 1 day then took a break another day then study next day after that helpped me out a whole lot i hoped i helped
Karena, quite a bit will depend on yor asvab score, Dont rule out the Air Guard and Air reserves.. I would look at all the branches and see which one has the best program for you
I am 18 years old. I scored a 74 (AFQT) on my asvabs. I have no tattoos or medical problems. I do charity work and am active in my community with my employer the local Walgreens. Here comes to my rejection from service. When I was 13 I made a huge mistake by throwing a mini smoke bomb into a restaurant. I was arrested promptly after the incident and told the truth the entire admitting to the incident. No one was hurt and no damage was caused by I was charged with Arson. I was advised to plead guilty by my lawyer and received one year probation. Since then I have not been in any trouble with the law and picked up my act. I spoke to the Airforce, the Marines, and the Navy. All said no due to felony waivers not being allowed due to the downsizing of the military. I am currently hoping and waiting for them to open the waivers back up in the next few years.
I tried for the asva about a year b and I didt pass becase of the math ived been studying like crazy. And I ended up getting a piercing will that affect me in inlisting
I passed my asvab about a mouth ago an still haven’t heard back from my recruiter wat does this mean…what is happen
I want to join U.S Army. I have a 51 college credits, no criminal record, I had a liver surgery 11 years ago(no problem with it), I speak Russian & understand in Russian. I'm just terrible at basic math & I've never been good in school(grade wise) Will this hurt the chances of me getting into U.S Army ? And i moved from Russia.
I think that is just dum. Its hard has it is for young people to join an now ifs being said that its goin to get harder why! to me that dont make any sence to make it harder for american to serve there country. Any those that have been in the service it says that it may cause those indivals to be able not to enlist im. Sorry but I think fast food isnt lookin for a soldier. I think shot needs to really change for those americans that want to serve an those that already servieing
If this country in not worth serving for then perhaps those people should leave. Nothing but respect should be given to the people in our military. They fight for our people so we can live in a FREE country. Maybe working behind a greasy deep fryer making minimum wage is your ideal job, that can be your own opinion. Unemployment is designed to help people in need not something to fall back on because someone is too lazy or thinks they should be making 25$ an hour. I give my repect to the ones who stand on the recieving end of a bullet so i can be an American. Enough with the my opinion…
I have wanted to join the Marine Corps ever since elementary school. the military is a family tradition and I want to preceed with that. I am undergoing a inguinal hernia operation this up coming friday and would like to know if there is anyone who has either been through it or know about it. i expect to take it slow for the first couple of weeks but i would like to start PT as soon as i become comfortable. any suggestions?
I Took the ASVAB with the JROTC program at my school and my AFQT was a 90 however i have a tarsel coalliton in both of my feet and had a bone fusion in both to correct it 4 years ago but this does not affect my physical ability. Does anyone know if i can join rotc in college, a military academy or enlist into any branch of the military?
i scored a 51 on th ASVAB and i have a chest tattoo which disqualifies me from AF, Navy.
Marine's can try for a waiver.
but could coastguard let me in with the 51 on the ASVAB? im from a miltary family and know colonels and generals in the AF and Marines.
